Asia Pacific Forum

Objective

The conference was for a dedicated Investment Company whose main goal is to deliver exceptional asset management to their Shareholders. This set a very high expectation when the client engaged Hurricane Event Group to organize and manage the Welcome Dinner, Gala Dinner and Conferencing for their recent Asia Pacific Investor Forum held in Sydney.

Solution

The Hurricane Team produced and managed a Welcome Dinner that was inspired by the Australian culture to create a relaxed networking environment for the delegates. A whip cracker, Aboriginal dancers and a native Australian themed room were the key elements of the evening. The Gala night was a cocktail style reception held on the waterfront of Sydney Harbour, allowing international and local guests to soak up the harbour. The gala event incorporated international food stations to embrace the Australian multicultural way, a flaming bar tender and a live band to keep guests entertained. Hurricane Event Group managed the conferencing by ensuring the presentations by key note speakers were flawlessly delivered in a sophisticated and professional business environment.

Outcome

The client was very happy with the elements organised by Hurricane Events as it allowed them to focus on key business relationships both at the Forum conferencing and evening events.

TOUR OF DUTY

Objective

This incentive trip was to reward customers, give them an insight into the company’s long standing history in the United States and allow them a ‘behind the scenes’ look at production & manufacturing lines.

Solution

To complement key plant visits Hurricane embraced the local surrounds in North Dakota and welcomed the group to the USA by hiring an Air Hanger and dined among historic war aircrafts. Picking up the tempo the group were whisked to Chicago where they enjoyed a private suite at a White Sox home game, dinner above the city skyline in the tallest building in Chicago & a sunset river cruise to take in the well renowned architectural skyline the windy city is well known for… just to name a few! Other highlights included the Abraham Lincoln Museum as well as an extravagant farewell dinner at The Governor of Illinois’ Executive Mansion with “Mr Lincoln” himself!

Outcome

The incentive trip branded ‘Tour of Duty’ built strong connections between customers from all over Australia as well as the brand. The customers left more knowledgeable and proud to be part of an internationally acclaimed brand.

AUSTRALIA II 30 YEAR CELEBRATION

Objective

Australia II winning the America’s Cup in 1983 was undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements in Australian sporting history and Hurricane were asked to organise the 30 year celebration of this historical moment.

Solution

Hurricane took the task of re-creating the unforgettable atmosphere of 26th September 1983. The legendary Australia II crew including Skipper John Bertrand were flown from all around the world to re unite in Sydney for the first of its kind event. Together with Syndicate Chairman Alan Bond as well as former Prime Minister Bob Hawke the audience heard never before told stories of this monumental sporting feat and how it all unfolded. The guests were surrounded by green & gold and the infamous “BK” boxing kangaroo and had the pleasure of seeing the replica America’s Cup trophy on display.

Outcome

The moment Mr Bertrand & Mr Bond walked into a standing ovation & a frenzy of media flashlights to carry the America’s Cup trophy to stage the atmosphere was something not able to be described in words…tears of joy in many eyes. As an event producer we can only dream of having a former PM make golden quotes like "we out techoed the bastards” as well as tell a joke which will forever be immortalized over the next 30 years & beyond!

THE ‘UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL’ TO LIGHTHOME BUILDING ROADSHOW CAMPAIGN

Objective

The client requested a series of events around the country to showcase their product. The objective was to educate and convert key specifiers within the building sector and, in the end, increase their market share.

Solution

Hurricane created an original and effective concept titled “Unlocking the Potential” and utilised character-filled ‘gaols’ and courtroom venues to further enhance the theme and its core message. Key people from the business sector made impressive presentations focussing on the benefits of the product before the guests enjoyed a themed dinner event that had everyone talking.

THE EUROPEAN STUDY TOUR

Objective

Hurricane were engaged to manage an incentive that included a historical touch. The incentive was aimed at the clients top tier customers and their partners.

Solution

Our team decided on an ANZAC tour program that would take the group from Paris and Somme to Brugge and Brussels. The group began by experiencing Paris – seeing the Moulin Rouge, racing 2cV Citroens around the Arc De Triomphe and visiting the Palace of Versailles. The group then travelled to Somme to experience the moving ANZAC Day Dawn Service before heading to Brugge for a tour of their factory and the fast train back to Paris via Brussels.

Outcome

The incentive tour was a great success and provided an emotive and unforgettable experience that would be remembered for years to come.

THE ARMED AND READY SALES TRAINING

Objective

The client was holding their national training event and required event management from start to finish. Dealer principles would converge from all over Australia and New Zealand and there was also a request to source speakers from around the globe. The objective was to assess their competitors’ products and re-focus their sales team.

Solution

Our team created the theme “Armed & Ready” and decided upon the Melbourne Showgrounds as the main training venue as it could accommodate heavy machinery and provide a ‘drive area’ on which to showcase the product. Two lavish dinners were also held where guests sat amongst the products and listened to a famous Olympian deliver an inspiring speech.

Outcome

The event raised the level of camaraderie amongst a disparate workforce and the sales teams are now better equipped to ensure an advantage over their competitors.

DESTINATION INNOVATION

Objective

Our client asked us to produce a trade fair from A to Z. The main goal was to engage and train their dealer network and connect them with key suppliers. Renewal of marketing, systems and internet focus played a huge role in this aspect of the event.

Solution

Our team covered the client’s values with the theme “Destination Innovation”. With the scenic décor of The Australian Technology Park the event was innovative in both name and look. Two groups of 250 Australian dealers attended the event. The first day of the event saw interesting presentations and a very charismatic motivational speaker. After that the doors to the 6850 m² trade floor opened where dealers interacted with the many different suppliers exhibiting. The second day of the trade fair dealers attended different break out sessions to improve their knowledge of products and sales techniques. After the breakout sessions dealers revisited the trade floor. At the start of the evening a fantastic gala dinner was organised to conclude two unforgettable days.

Outcome

The trade fair re-ignited the client’s relationship with their dealers and successfully connected them with suppliers. The dealers found the breakout sessions very inspiring and have started to put what they learned in to practice.

THE ‘RE-ENERGISE’ CONFERENCE

Objective

Hurricane Event Group was tasked with managing a 2-day conference with the objective to “bring together” staff from all over Australia and establish a strong team connection.

Solution

Hurricane chose the unique location of Cockatoo Island to inspire staff. On day 1 delegates were treated to a surprise cocktail party and dinner at the iconic Opera House. This immediately ‘re-energised’ the staff and proved to be the starting point for a successful conference. Additionally, the team at Hurricane sourced and managed all supplier relationships on behalf of the committee allowing members to focus on the internal content.

Outcome

The conference exceeded client expectations...and the staff members were noticeably re-energised for the year ahead.

HURRICANE MASTER WINE CHALLENGE

The Event

In 2004 Hurricane introduced the “Unearth the Cork” Wine Dinner Series and it quickly gained a strong corporate following. Showcasing both global and Australian wine regions, the event hallmark has been the interactive component of the dinners which is hosted by wine luminarie Nick Stock (Age and SMH Good Wine Guide Author).
8 years later Hurricane introduced a new style – The MasterWine Challenge! This event allows you to enjoy a 5 course degustation with each course meticulously wine matched. Each table nominates a “wine captain” who represents your table in the on & off-stage interactive challenge to determine the nights MasterWine Champions. It’s competitive, interactive and hilarious! The winning table will enjoy an exclusive experiential tasting session with Nick Stock and one of the great “Master” Wines of our time.

Outcome

These Wine Dinner series are the ultimate way to engage key clients. They offer the opportunity to strengthen relationships with key clients in an interactive and relaxed environment whilst providing knowledge and insight into all things food and wine!
